Even once new crowd controllers are licensed, they will then have restrictions placed on what duties they are able to perform; they will be restricted from working alone and effectively will not be fully operational for another 12 months from the issue of the initial probational license.

In the long term, these new regulations should ensure the quality of the workforce will improve. However, the available workforce will dramatically reduce therefore placing more pressure on security providers which will inevitably impact on service levels to their clients. There is also the possibility that security providers will place guards that are not venue appropriate and, therefore, are not representing their client’s best interests and investment.

Organizations and venues who are not proactive in responding to these changes will find the quality of the security guards they are provided with will not be consistent. Overall standards will reduce. Adequately trained, quality staff will be more sought after and clients will have less control over the staff that they are given by their provider.

The end result – valuable time will need to spent negotiating with security providers and responding to crises. You will be distracted from your core business.
